Pizza Disaster

Here's the picture:

Now here's the story:

Setting: I just sat down to feed Rachel
Lucas: Mom, can I have a granola bar?
Me: You need to eat lunch first and then you can have one. There's a piece of pizza in the fridge, you can heat that up and have it for lunch.
Lucas: (whining) But I don't know how long to do it!!!!!
Me: Just put it in and push 1,0,0..start.
Lucas: 1 and 2 0's?
Me: Yes...you can do it!

Well, a little time went by, I'd completely forgotten the whole conversation and Rachel was just finishing nursing. I hear Lucas run up the stairs frantically screaming "Mom, there's smoke in the house...the pizza is on fire!" I quickly ran downstairs to find the whole kitchen filled with a nasty smoke. I turned the microwave off, rescued the pizza, and we all ran outside for cover. We later realized that he had pushed 1,2,0,0 instead of 1,0,0. So, needless to say the whole house reeks a nasty raunchy smoky smell( and still does 9 hrs later!) I packed the kids up and headed off to Wendy's and bowling to avoid sitting in the house, and ran to Wal-mart to buy 4 different kinds of air fresheners! Hopefully we get rid of the smell someday and our microwave won't be permanently damaged! In hind sight....I wish I would have just let him have the granola bar!

Just a little side-note that I'd like to record so I don't forget: Amidst the whole chaos while the kids were outside, I had a phone call. As I was talking on the phone, Lucas starts interrupting me, which he always does and I usually try and avoid him as much as I can. Well, he persistently kept bugging me so what I got out of what he was saying was.." Mom, can I be outside?" I mouth to him, yes, while wondering why he was really asking me that since he already was outside. Anyways, later as we were eating at Wendy's I asked Lucas if he had gone to the bathroom before we left.
Lucas: "Yes, I peed outside!"
Me:" What...why are you telling me this, and why did you do such a thing?"
Lucas: "You told me I could...remember when it was all smoky in the house I asked you?"
Me:" I thought you said...Can I be outside!"
Anyways...I guess I couldn't get too mad at him since he had asked!

I LOVE LUCAS - he is such a funny kid. I laughed out loud at your last story... I hope he stayed away from my house! :)

Ahhhh Jen that story is the best. I think you forgot to mention to everyone you just went out and bought a new microwave to get rid of the smell. Kids can be so expensive some times. :)
