Way to Go Zac!

About 6 months ago, Zac's friend Travis talked him into training for a triathlon ( a swim, bike, run for those that don't know!). I was a bit skeptical at first, mainly because he had never done any of these events EVER in his life. Also, the start-up cost for an event like this is NOT CHEAP! Trust me, you don't even want to know! Those that know me well have probably heard my griping about the cost and the time that it has taken Zac away for training for this event....it's not just one work out a day....but 2! Plus, all the time he's away with work and bishopbric....it has been an adjustment for me to have him so busy! But, I know he's enjoyed it, lost a lot of weight, and has supported me through many of my activities, so I really had no choice but to support him the best I could!

Well, yersterday was Zac's payoff for all his work, and mine as well to be able to see him work so hard and complete his goal! It was a great day and we all had fun watching for him and his Travis as they competed in each event. Here's a run down of the day!
I think Zac was out there in this group of swimmers. It's hard to tell when they all look alike! They start at different times and Zac and Travis were in different groups.

I was getting worried as we were looking for Zac to come in from the swim that we might have missed him...but finally we did see him. He said that was the hardest part...and definately different in open water, in a wetsuit, and lots of swimmers kicking water in his face! He was just glad to get that part over with!
This is Travis coming in from the swimThis is Zac bending over as he transitioned from the bike to the run. I'm sure it didn't help him to have all the kids yelling at him to hurry up!
Zac starting off on his run
Travis starting his run
The kids kept themselves entertained by giving all the runners high-fives as they came to the finish line!
Zac coming into the finish line with a BIG smile!
Our hero...happy to be done!
Zac and his 3 biggest fans!Travis coming to the finish line...his daughter Olivia joined him to finish the race with him. His other boys jumped over the partition to run with him as well!
Zac and Travis have been friends since high school. Not only do I have Travis to thank for this new hobby of Zac's, but I have him thank for introducing me to Zac...he went on a mission with my good college friend and they set us up after my mission!
The family after the race!

We are all proud of Zac. I told him about a week ago that I was looking forward to this all being over with and he just said to me.."What do you mean....I'm just getting started!" I guess this won't be his first and last event after all...he enjoyed it enough to already start planning his next one. Maybe one day we can do one together!

That's awesome! I'm totally impressed. Way to go. I know that takes a ton of time to train. I guess there's one good reason for going on a mission! :) Just kidding!
