A Special Quilt for Lucas!

My sister made this quilt for Lucas. She is getting so good at it, and the kids love to see what she can create. They are starting to make requests, but Aunt Ally can only do so much!
The funny thing about this picture is that Rachel's prized binky is in the center of the quilt!

Lucas gets baptized!

Lucas was baptized a week after his birthday. He was very excited and Zac and I were both very proud of him. It's always a neat feeling to see your kids complete big milestones in their lives and it makes be excited to experience many more. We had a great day with family and I hope Lucas will be able to remember his special day.

Lucas turns 8!

I have been on a blogging strike for about 6 months now. I'm not sure why, other than the farther behind I get, the less I want to catch up! I always have good intentions, but never seem to follow through. Anyways, I do hope to get caught up someday. It may mean less narration, but at least I can journal my pictures hopefully.

Way back in October, Lucas turned 8. He had a fun birthday party at Boondocks and I'm sure he had a great time. Sadly, these pictures aren't even in order, but I guess it will have to do!

Rachel...What's Your Name?

For some reason, Rachel has an aversion to saying her own name. I think she has a hard time pronouncing it, but she likes to say other things when asked what her name is. I don't know how she came upon this, but she started saying her name was "stupid bike". Don't ask me why, but it's probably because we all laugh when she says it. She did learn to term from her brother Lucas when he was talking about his frustrations with his bike, but I don't know how she associated it as being her own name! Anyways, we get a kick out of hearing her say it. The other name she says she has is "Baby"...probably because that's what her Dad calls her! Anyways, I always get a kick out of it and thought I would document it and remember how funny it is!

This was taken probably a month later...

This was two minutes later....with an added trick of the summersault!

She also is very interested in watching her movie back as you can see!

Sam's Blessing!

We blessed Sam on September 5. We had a nice day with family and friends. Here are a few pictures from the day!

Sam at 2 months!

Here's a few pictures of Sam at about 2 months. He's pretty cute and starting to smile.

Here's a video of Sam sleeping. For awhile there, he was pretty good at sawing logs while sleeping. Luckily for me, he's outgrown the snoring phase, as it was starting to keep me awake at night. Also, another funny story is that Zac said to me one night that he thought my dad (who has passed away) would be proud of Sam. I said, "why..because they have the same middle name?", and Zac replied, "No, because he's a pretty good snorer..just like your dad!"

Ahhh...The Long Awaited First Day of School

I'll admit it....this summer was a rough summer. Having a baby....plus a two year old, didn't exactly allow me to venture out a lot with the whole crew. There was a lot of adjusting going on, with bored kids...which led to too much fighting. Anyways, I'm happy to say I survived, the kids survived...and we all made it to the first day of school where these two boys were lovingly sent off to school. I felt a huge sense of relief to have some structure and a little more peace and quiet back in our lives. Hopefully next summer won't be so challenging!

Rachel had to get in the picture with her backpack. She always puts it on and tells me bye and that she's going to school!

Bear Lake

We didn't take too many trips this summer, since Sam was so little, but we take a quick trip to Bear Lake for a little getaway with Zac's family. We had a fun time, despite the look on Rachel's face in this picture!

Hanging out with Grandpa

We rented a wave runner for the day. We all had just a great time, we ended up buying a pair so we can do it more often. The kids ( and me!) are already so excited about next summer and getting to spend lots of time on the lake. Hopefully we will create lots of fun memories with family and friends in the years to come!

Halloween in July!

In July, we attended the Lusk Family Reunion at the boat club at Pineview. It had a Halloween theme, so the kids were thrilled to be able to wear costumes and go trick or treating to different camp sites. We always have a fun time at the family reunion!

Updating the blog!

It's been awhile since I've blogged...I guess you can say I've been a little busy! Anyways, these pictures were taken when Sam was about 2 weeks old. My mom stayed with me for almost 3 weeks which was a major blessing for me. I don't think I could have done it without her help, especially since I had to take Sam back and for to the hospital for bilirubin and weight checks for the 1st 2 weeks. I appreciated her help tremendously and Rachel was lucky to have someone to help her those first few weeks while I adjusted to our new life!

Rachel did pretty good with the adjustment, but she constantly wanted to kiss Sam. She only tried to pick him up once and luckily has not tried that since! I had to be aware of her constant move to make sure she stayed away from him, and although the newness has worn off a bit...I'm still telling her to leave him alone! She can be a good helper when I want her to be.

Sleeping Sam

This picture was taken after Rachel threw a fit about wanting to go swimming with the boys. I talked her into going swimming in the tub, but she insisted she had to wear her "swimmy". She also had a nice rasberry bump on her forehead from climbing out of her crib when I put her in there for throwing a fit. Luckily she hasn't tried that again!
